Possible Once A Day HIV Pill

Joseph Coupal - Friday, June 29, 2012
A new “Quad” Pill combines several medications for HIV into one, leading to patients taking fewer pills.  Studies show that after a year of treatment on the “Quad” pill, 88% of patients experienced a suppression of the virus.  The new treatment caused fewer rashes and fewer central nervous system side effects than the standard treatment, nut more nausea.  If the FDA approves the treatment it will be a new option for HIV patients and the decision is expected later this summer.  Officials believe that the new pill will help people take their medications without missing doses and control the virus better, thus leading to longer and healthier lives for HIV patients.
