Mass. Lawmakers Try To Save The Cranberries

Massachusetts is the second largest producer of cranberries, taking a backseat only to Wisconsin.  Massachusetts U.S. senators joined in a bipartisan effort to help the cranberry growers.  Scott Brown and John Kerry are attempting to prevent cranberry juice cocktails from being added to the list of sugary drinks that may be banned from public schools because of the correlation to childhood obesity.   The senators say they support the goal of the campaign to ban sugary drinks that lead to obesity, but believe an exception should be made for cranberries because of the health benefits that the fruit brings.  See full story here.
